Register of Shipping (IRS) is an internationally recognised independent
ship classification society, founded in India in 1975. IRS on 22nd June 2010 has achieved the status of full membership of the International Association of Classification
Societies (IACS), the major international body
of classification societies. Admission in IACS is granted only to the best
and signifies high standards, excellent reputation and professional
competence.
Quality
Management System Of IRS has been certified by IACS under the “Quality
System Certification Scheme” of IACS since its inception in 1996. This
means that IRS complies with the requirements of ISO 9001 as well as all requirements
of IACS such as Unified Requirements (UR’s), Procedural Requirements (PR’s)
& Unified Interpretations (UI’s) and also the Statutory Requirements if
IMO & various Flag Administration as applicable.
Today IRS provides

party technical inspection and certification services for all types of
ships, marine craft and structures. These services have also been expanded
to cover a range of offshore and industrial projects.
