AIM : The aim of ISO/TS16949 is the development of a quality management system that provides for continual improvement, emphasizing defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain. TS16949 applies to the design/development, production and, when relevant, installation and servicing of automotive-related products. It is based on QS9000.
The requirements are intended to be applied throughout the supply chain. For the first time vehicle assembly plants will be encouraged to seek ISO/TS16949 certification

EXPECTED BENEFITS OF THE STANDARD

Certification to ISO/TS16949 offers benefits to suppliers that currently need to comply with more than one set of supplier requirements. This has significant benefits in helping reduce or eliminate multiple assessments with the additional benefits of reduction in disruption to the business, associated paperwork and costs.Improved process quality

PROCESS APPROACH

Any activity; or set of activities that uses resources to transform inputs to outputs can be considered as a process. e.g. order execution process, design & development process.
For organizations to function effectively they have to manage numerous interrelated & interacting processes. E.g. order execution process may involve sales, production, quality, and stores related processes. Often output of one process will directly form the input into next process.
Systematic identification and management of processes employed within organization and particularly the interactions between such processes is referred as the “process approach”.
Efficiency of the process is directly measured by the ratio of desired output against the input resources provided e.g. no of parts produced per employee.
Effectiveness is measurement with respect to time. e.g. delivery rating calculation. Monitor measure and analyze these processes.
