Indian Register Quality Systems provides independent Quality / Environmental Management System Certification. IRQS is department of Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) which is India's national ship classification society and an independent third party inspection organisation. IRS has been carrying out surveys and certification of ships, marine machinery and land based plant and equipment for nearly 25 years. IRS is registered as a Public Limited Company under Section 25 of the Indian Companies Act i.e. a company having no share holding and the excess of income over the expenditure is ploughed back into the organisation for providing better services to the shipping and other industries.

IRQS stands for Integrity, Reliability, Quality and Safety. Recognising the need for independent third party Quality / Environmental System Certification bodies in the country, IRQS prepared itself in 1993 to render these services to the industry. IRQS has several qualified Lead Auditors of Management Systems including ISO 9000, TS 16949, QS 9000, ISO 14001 and OSHAS Standards.

IRQS a Department of IRS received Accreditation from Raad voor Accreditatie (RvA) for ISO 9000, QS 9000 and ISO 14001 and from National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies(NABCB) for ISO 9000 and ISO 14001 and International Automotive Task Force (IATF) for ISO / TS 16949.
