Subject: Chinese Military Exercises Off Taiwan.

1. As per the China Maritime Safety Administration, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army will conduct military exercises and training activities including live-fire drills from 1200 (Beijing Time) 04 August to 1200 (Beijing Time) 07 August 2022. For safety reasons, vessels and aircrafts are prohibited from entering the following sea and air spaces:

2. Shipping traffic may be affected along regular routes, especially near the major ports of Kaohsiung, Taipei and Keelung.

3. In view of above, vessels operating in this region are advised to:

a. Mark all identified areas on the above charts.

b. Consider amending the voyage plans to avoid entering the areas.

c. Maintain a vigilant watch for collision avoidance.

d. Ensure AIS is activated and functioning properly.

e. Monitor VHF Ch.16 and respond to any radio communication by military in the area.

f. If applicable, remain in close contact with local port agents in Taiwan.

g. Closely monitor NAVTEX and NAVAREA XI warnings.

h. Consider following the Information Fusion Centre (IFC) Singapore Voluntary Community Reporting (VCR) guidelines. Reporting forms can be accessed through the Admiralty Maritime Security Planning Chart website.

4. Ship owners/ operators and masters are advised to be guided by above.
