India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025

Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) marked a significant presence at India Maritime Week 2025, reinforcing its leadership in promoting innovation, digitalisation, and sustainable technologies across the maritime sector.

1. During the event, IRS signed multiple strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and granted key technical approvals with the following organisations:

  • Crimson Energy Experts Pvt. Ltd. – Collaboration aimed at developing capabilities in nuclear energy for maritime applications.
  • Dassault Systèmes – MoU signed to collaborate on Next-Gen Seavolution initiatives.
  • Seatech Integrated Technology Pvt. Ltd., Singapore – Granted Approval in Principle (AiP) for an innovative Green Tug Design.

2. At India Maritime Week 2025, the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), The Institute of Marine Engineers (India) [IME(I)], and Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) jointly unveiled a comprehensive White Paper — IMMEX SMM India 2025 during the Guardians of the Sea session.

The paper outlines strategic pathways identified during IMMEX SMM 2025 to strengthen India’s position as a global maritime manufacturing hub.

3. Highlights from the Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI) session on Maritime Human Capital -

  • Mr. P. K. Mishra, MD, IRS shared expert perspectives on strengthening maritime human capital and aligning skills with evolving industry needs alongside a panel of global experts.
  • It was a moment of great honour for IRS as Capt. J. C. Anand (Former Chairman, IRS) – a visionary leader and trailblazer of the Indian maritime industry, Ms. Sonali Banerjee (IRS) – India’s first woman marine engineer, and Ms. Parvathi Rajalakshmi (Retd., IRS) – India’s first woman Naval Architect, were felicitated by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Labour & Employment and Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.

4. Several landmark Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were also exchanged between Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding (CEMS) & below organisations - Collaborations to Build India as a Hub for Skilled Shipbuilding and Repair Professionals.

  • Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL)
  • Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE)
  • A tripartite MoU between CEMS, Drydocks World | DP World, and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).

IRS stand welcomed several dignitaries and senior officials, including:
