Hind Shipyard delivers 2 tugs to Navy - classed with IRS

The second and third of the series of three 50 T Bollard Pull Tugs(11162 – 11164) , for INDIAN NAVY , constructed by M/s.Hindustan Shipyard Ltd.,Visakhapatnam and named “DHIRAJ”and “SAHAS” respectively were Flagged off  on 04th December 2013 at HSL jetty by Cmde. (Retd) K.S.Subramanian, NM (Director Ship Building of HSL) for delivery voyage from Visakhapatnam to Karwar.

 

   

The Vessels “DHIRAJ” and “SAHAS” are built under special survey of IRS Steel ship Rules and have been assigned with IRS class notation

The vessel particulars are Overall Length 34.54 m , Breadth 11.26m , Depth 4.49m and with Gross Tonnage of 472.

Each vessel is powered by two  Main Engines (Make : Wartsila Italia Spa. , Type:W8L26 , Power: 2412KW per Engine). These Engines drive Voith Schneider Propulsion unit.The Speed achieved for both the vessels during sea trials is 13 Knots at 85%Maximum continuous rating and the Bollard pull achieved for both the vessels is in excess of 54 T.

Upon delivery to Indian Navy at Karwar both the above said vessels “DHIRAJ” and “SAHAS” are likely to play an important role in the handling of Aircraft carrier “INS VIKRAMADITYA”.
