Subject: DG Shipping India order on Ship Sanitation Control Certificate/ Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate.

  • DG shipping India vide DGS order no. 10 of 2018 (as attached) has provided clarification regarding requirement of Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC)/Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) for vessels engaged in coastal trade.
  • The vessels calling at ports where Port Health Officer is not available, a Statement of Compliance in lieu of SSCC/SSCEC may be issued by medical examiner authorized by Directorate General of Shipping. Format of Statement of Compliance is given in attached DGS order.
  • The master of the vessel may issue ‘Statement of Compliance’ when a vessel is engaged in coastal trade calls at ports where authorized medical examiners are not available. In such cases the master is required to get an endorsement of authorized medical examiner in ‘Statement of Compliance’ at the earliest available opportunity.
  • Ship owners/ operators and masters are advised to be guided by above.
